Poem – Things Wild

What can I say, I love a good storm.
I hate it when too many things become the norm.
I want a world that is alive and free.
I want a world that allows wildness to just be.

Humanity wants to tame what is ferocious and great.
It takes powerful creatures and puts them behind a gate.
When we cage them, we demand humanity do the same.
Governments want all of life to be calm and tame.

But life will never let its essence be fully tamed.
Even though things too wild are often blamed.
I do not understand why we are afraid of what is wild.
All those things allow me to again feel like a child.

She is impetuous, silly, wild, and free.
She knows so much more than what others may see.
That is why I give her space to lead the way.
Because I am nicer when we both have a chance to play.
