Poem – Being Human

My heart woke up and said, “What can we love today?”
My head stirred in my mind saying, “Let’s figure out how to make something work better!”
My body, stretched, yawned, and pulled the covers up, saying, “Can’t we sleep in and have a bubble bath first?”
And so the day begins and we try to make a path between three perspectives and three agendas.
What would it be like if we allowed all three to work together … rather than apart?
We could let the mind figure out the right approaches.
We could let the heart decide who and what to love.
And we could learn to give the body the tender loving care that is so often denied it.
