Poem – Ballet Dancers Warmup

Poem – Ballet Dancers Warm-Up

The studio door swings open wide,

And dancers filter inside,

Aching muscles, groans, and sighs.

Yet they’re eager to warm up and exercise.

Jokes and laughter fill the air.

As they loosen up with dedication and care.

Cracking bones, stretching to all the sides,

Preparing for the coming steps and magical slides.

The barres creak as they’re leaned on.

As dancers move to an inner song.

Limbs extend with each plié.

The class begins in this warmup ballet.

Energy builds with each move.

As each seeks to find their own groove.

Fluid movements and pointed toes,

Tell the story that their dance wants to show.

In sync with their bodies’ grace.

Dancers move at a steady pace.

Muscles warmed, minds now in focus.

Dancer’s tease and play games of hocus-pocus.

They dance like fairies in the night.

And keep their higher goals in sight.

Class ends and it is applause to the teacher.

They are now ready to become an amazing creature.
