Poem – Why do we dance?
Why do we dance? Do we dance to become famous and rich?
No, we dance to inspire and bewitch.
No dancer was ever paid what they were worth.
We were born to create a more beautiful earth.
We danced in the rain … when no one saw.
We danced in the darkness … as the stars did fall.
We danced in our minds throughout the night.
We danced in our hearts when things were not quite right.
The heart of a dancer beats whether it is on a stage or not.
That heart needs to explode because it seeks what it forgot
A dancer will hear music constantly in the day.
Sometimes it is beautiful but often there is dismay.
We become sad that mankind often forgets how to flow.
It makes us sad that they forget … what they do know.
They know how to flow with the winds in the sky.
They know how to expand beyond the body, they deny.
But the greatest sadness is that they are lost in their mind.
And when that happens, they can do things very unkind.
So, when you hear a song in the wind or the rain.
Step out into the weather and learn to listen again.
Then you will see and hear the dancers laughing in the storms.
And you will remember that those things … that you call your norms.
Are blocks to being the beautiful soul that you are.
And then we can finally dance together in the stars.
