Quote

We learn to love others not from just gazing into each other’s eyes.
We learn that true love is not what we wish for or if we can disguise.

We learn that love looks past what we think we want.
And we learn to allows others to be our confidant.

Love learns to walk side by side.

Love walks together far and wide.

Love walks a similar path.

Love is there in the aftermath.

When we look towards a shared goal.

That is how love makes us whole.

A Tribute to My Father’s Best Friend Charlie

In life, we discover only a very few.

Those that we trust with our deepest hue.
Charlie is a quiet and caring man.

My father considered him family and clan.
Together they traveled and challenged the fates.

My father gave him the keys to his secret gates.

Now he stands between this reality in time.

One foot is here, and another touches the sublime.
I am sure my father waits for him in the light.

I am sure their reunion will be a delight.

Some friends last throughout all time and space.

Moments so profound, that they cannot be erased.

Charlie was my father’s confidant.
And he did it in a way that was very nonchalant.

He did not push, nor did he try to pry.
And when he passes there will not be a dry eye.

Some people are quiet and yet they deeply care.

They have a way to allow one … to clear the air.

They do not try, they wait and allow.

Charlie was gifted with this know-how.

I will greatly miss Charlie … when he is gone.

Because I know his exit heralds a new dawn.

One where his dear wife, Lillian will be next.

Her dementia makes her confused and perplexed.

But also, a sweet and very dear soul.

She will not want to be here without Charlie to hold.
And that is when I know that my mother too will leave.

Lillian and Charlie were like her other sleeve.

They have wandered together in this time.

They will want to be together in that other paradigm.
And then for me … an era will end.

As the deaths in life force us to contend.

With the reality that … we too shall pass.

And realize that what remains, is the love that lasts.
